Director's Picnic - 2006

  June 10, 2006 at the Controy Pavilion at Lake Onata, Pittsfield, MA.

9:30 - 10:00 Coffee /Check In

10:00 - 12:00 Directors Roundtable

Discussion of lake related issues and management techniques with other associations (monitoring programs, weed management, fundraising, relationships with state agencies, insurance, lake steward program). Representatives from regional consulting firms who have done extensive work on area lakes and ponds have also been invited.

12:00 - 12:30 Water Chestnut Harvesting Program

Lee Hauge, President of Friends of Pontoosuc will discuss how his association has implemented a strong campaign to control this invasive weed which seems to be a growing problem in this area.

12:30 - 1:00 Lunch

1:00 - ? Weed Identification Workshop

Feel free to bring aquatic plants from your lake for identification. We will also have samples of some of the invasive plants which are of concern locally.

Directions to Controy Pavilion

From the center of Pittsfield at Park Square, north on North Street, for 0.7 mile and through 6 stoplights. Left on Wahconah Street (just before the Berkshire Medical Center). 0.6 mile to the second stoplight. Left on Pecks Road. West on Pecks Road for 1.1 miles (through the stoplight at Highland Avenue). Left on Lakeway Drive. There is a sign for the Controy Pavilion there. 0.4 mile to the Pavilion entrance on the right (through gate). Park on the left, across from the Pavilion.
